How the monthly amount is set

Article 95(1) of the Enforcement Decree sets the benefit as a monthly amount. Up to month 3 it is the ordinary monthly wage, capped at ₩2.5M. Months 4 to 6 are capped at ₩2M. From month 7 to the end it is 80% of the ordinary wage, capped at ₩1.6M. The floor is ₩0.7M in every month.

The table below applies those rules to one example.

Example: 3,000,000 won a month, standard track, starting in 2026

  • Month 12,500,000 won
  • Month 42,000,000 won
  • Month 71,600,000 won

This is only an example. Your amount depends on your ordinary wage and start date.

If a month is not complete

Article 95(3) prorates the monthly amount by the number of days on leave when the period is shorter than one month. The table here counts whole months only.

Months before 2025-01-01

For months before 2025-01-01 the earlier rule paid only 75% of the benefit each month and the rest in one sum after you returned and worked 6 months or more. The reform deleted that clause, so months from 2025-01-01 are paid in full each month. If you enter a start date, the calculator splits what you get monthly from what you get after returning.

The day the money arrives

This site does not tell you the day the money arrives. Article 95 sets the monthly amount only, and the article has no payment day.
